Armen Sarvazyan, co-founder of Advanced Tactile Imaging
The international acoustics and medical ultrasound communities lost a visionary scientist with the passing of Dr. Armen Sarvazyan on May 28, 2026, at the age of 86. Throughout a career spanning more than six decades, Dr. Sarvazyan transformed the fields of biomedical acoustics, biomechanics, and medical imaging through his scientific insight, technological innovation, and exceptional ability to bridge fundamental physics and clinical medicine. His pioneering work laid the foundation for modern shear wave elasticity imaging (SWEI), one of the important advances in modern diagnostic ultrasound (full IEEE Obituary).
